Dr. Bukowski was my ophthamologist for 25 years or so before he retired; he prescribed my first set of glasses when I was five years old. My parents and three siblings were his patients, too, back in the '60s and '70s. Long ago Mom and Dad told a story of his philanthropy: they had a good hunch that Dr. Bukowski gave gifts of eye exams to needy patients.
