Dr. Bukowski was my ophthamologist for 25 years or so before he retired; he prescribed my first set of glasses when I was five years old. My parents and three siblings were his patients, too, back in the '60s and '70s. Long ago Mom and Dad told a story of his philanthropy: they had a good hunch that Dr. Bukowski gave gifts of eye exams to needy patients. This left a lasting impression on me as a youth--that persons could be philanthropic with their talents and knowledge. Just a few years ago I was lucky enough to visit with Dr. Bukowski briefly and happened to ask him about my parents' perceptions. He rather humbly acknowledged his generosity. I'm so glad he helped me and many others see more clearly--both those things that are visible to the eye and, perhaps more important, those that can only be seen with a caring heart. Sincerely,
