John Butler Obituary

John Thomas Butler, 16, of Midland, passed away on Saturday, August 12, 2017 in Midland. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, August 17, 2017 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home in Midland. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 18, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Stonegate Fellowship Building F in Midland. Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery. John was born on January 23, 2001 to Keitha and Gene Butler in Midland. John attended Santa Rita Elementary, Goddard Jr. High, Midland Freshman and was a junior at Midland High. He was a member of the MHS Cross Country team and track team. John was very active at Stonegate Fellowship in the SGY ministry and Stonegate Missions. So many people have come to us and shared with us how John touched their lives and lead them to the Lord. He loved hanging out with his friends, anything he could do outside whether running, biking, hiking, fishing or just sitting on the back porch enjoying nature. John lived his life to the fullest and enjoyed every second that he was given by God. He was a very special young man that we were so blessed to have in our lives and we Thank God for every moment that he was with us. He is survived by his parents, Keitha and Gene Butler; two brothers, Justin and Josh Butler; maternal grandparents, Bob and Carol Parish of Hobbs, NM; paternal grandparents, Sid and Sandra Butler of Hobbs, NM; great grandmother, Mattie Ayres of Hobbs, NM; aunt, Kristie Parish and son, Colton Parish of Hobbs, NM; uncle, Kevin Parish and wife, Krissy Parish of Hobbs NM; uncle, Steven Butler and wife, Krista and son, Christopher of Hobbs NM; uncle, Tony Bolden and wife, Toni and their children, Jaelyn, Dustin, Jared and Michael of Ruidoso Downs, NM; numerous great aunts, uncles, cousins, and more friends than you can count of all ages. He is preceded in death by paternal great grandparents, Marshall and Louise Butler; great grandfather Travis Odell; great grandmother, Peralie Nason and husband, Lloyd Nason; paternal uncle, Johnny Butler and paternal aunt, Renee Garrett; maternal great grandfather, Lewis Ayres; great grandparents, Royal and Sue Parish. Pallbearers will be Caden Carson, Nathan Keller, Cole Carriger, Cade Michaels, Jordan Luna Howell, LJ Mendez and Nathanel Muniz. Honorary pallbearers will be Justin Butler, Josh Butler, Colton Parish and Midland High Cross Country Team. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made in John's name to Stonegate Youth Missions. Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory in Midland.
