John Cerullo

Wichita, Kansas - Cerullo, John Henry - Retired Senior Engineering Technician for the City of Wichita, passed away on Wednesday, August 31st, 2022. John was born on August 4, 1942, in Suffern, NY. He is survived by his two sons, Jason Michael (Denyse) and Jared Allen (Brandon Swaney) Cerullo. John relished in his role of "PeePaw" to grandson Sebastian Joel Cerullo. He is predeceased by his loving wife of 52 years, Janet Lynn (nee Addington), parents Joseph John and Verna Jane Cerullo (nee Kell), and a brother, Joseph Edward Cerullo. John graduated from Suffern High School in 1960. He went into the United States Marine Corps in 1961 and served his country until his honorable discharge in 1964. He moved to Wichita, KS, in 1966 and began a 30 year career with the City of Wichita. He was chairman of the local SEIU for ten years and retired from the city in 1997 as a Senior Engineering Technician. He married the love of his life, Janet Lynn Addington, on May 24, 1968. John and Janet remained happily married for 52 years, until Janet's untimely death from a brain tumor in 2019. John was called many things, but always answered to "friend." He enjoyed a number of hobbies and activities, including lapidary, bowling, and shooting pool. A memorial service is pending.

My condolences to John's family. John was a good friend back in the old neighborhood, through Little League baseball and high school days and we still kept up with each other right up to his passing. He was truly a friend to all who knew him and may he Rest in Peace.
