I just researched John Renfro Davis of Conroe, TX after seeing an obituary my mother saved of his mother, Orma Davis, which listed John Renfro Davis of Conroe, TX as one of her survivors. Oh my goodness.... Mr. Davis was a great dude. He made his class time go fast. 1982.. He will always in my memories.

I just found out, Melissa, I have many wonderful memories of the both of you and your parents. Shining example of what true love was, john was a wonderful man, he will be missed.

Mr. Davis was my favorite teacher. He didn't know it because I sat in the back of the room and kept a low profile. He had my attention and I was very interested in whatever it was he was teaching. I was privileged to have him for both 8th grade English and home room. He taught us about literature, lyrics and poetry and would make us read poetry in front of the class. As a prior member of the SISD Board of Trustees and life long community member of Splendora, I was blessed to have the privilege of knowing Mr. & Ms. Davis. Those who crossed the path with Mr. Davis are fortunate. Our district was enriched by his presents and leadership he shared with our children. The good Lord apparently needed an intellect by his side. God bless you Ms. Davis. Our community loss is heavens gain!

I only knew John through his posts on the LitForum (Compuserve) but his wit and intelligence brightened my day. May his memory be for a blessing.

Dear Melissa, I am so sorry for your loss. Even though I meet you in your darkest moments it was such an honor to have been there for you and your family. Your stories of you, John, love and life were beautiful and inspiring. I am sorry I did not get to say goodbye and give you one last hug. But please know that you have been in my thoughts. I'm so sorry to hear this. I've known John--virtually, we never met in person, alas--for many years. Such a kind, perceptive soul--and very funny. We'll miss him.

Many spoke today of heartfelt memories regarding their relationship with John: how he cared, loved, helped, encouraged, and inspired them during his life and how much he would be missed. It truly was a celebration of his life. Although I wish I had known him better, I can testify that in every instance he was an encouragement to myself and members of my family. He excelled in so much and we who are left could only be better by following his example. You are missed.
