John Davis Obituary

DAVIS, John "Johnny" Ennis Jr., left this earth for his heavenly home on September 12, 2023. He is survived by his wife Allison McNett Davis, his daughter Ainsley Blair, and son, Sutton Oliver; his parents, Robert and Matilda Morris; In Laws, Ken and Cindy McNett, sister Mary Jane Morris; brother Brandon Davis, his wife Mary and nephews Landon and Griffin; brother-in-law Austin McNett, his wife Nikita and nephews Arlie and Atlee; and a large extended family whom he loved dearly. He is also survived by biological father, John E Davis Sr. Johnny was a lifetime resident of Hanover, VA, and a graduate of Atlee High School and Virginia Tech. After college, he managed Richmond Dragway, which his great-grandfather and uncle opened, later purchasing the dragstrip in 2008 and running it successfully until 2021. Johnny was a dedicated man – to Christ and his family above all. He was the epitome of a devoted husband and father. He was a dedicated business owner, member of The Branch Church in Ashland, and volunteer at his children's schools (he loved the Kersey Creek Watchdog program). He championed many causes, but more than anything, he championed people. Johnny's impact on his family, friends, Hanover, Hokie, river, and racing communities was far-reaching. He was unwavering in his convictions. He was dedicated to spreading the love of Jesus, and his spirit was one of service and generosity. Johnny loved people and was loved by many in return. His gift for public speaking, his positivity, and his smile will not be forgotten.

Our sympathies are with Johnny's family. I own Accutime Timing Systems and worked with Johnny for many years. He was a customer and a friend, always balanced in his viewpoints and a calming personality in a high adrenaline business. We shared many stories over the years and helped each other out many times. Just the thought of not being able to reach out to Johnny saddens me. I guess I will just have to use prayers for our conversations. My prayers are with all of his family.
