Not sure what to say?

Dear Ann and family, very sorry to learn of Jack's passing. He was a great family man, friend and a credit to Colby College that he so vigorously supported. I am ever more
grateful to have seen both of you during my last trip to Maine. Rest in peace, Jack.

Dear Deering family,

I have just learned of your loss. My heart goes out to all of you.

Jack was the nicest man i have ever had the pleasure of being able to call "friend".In the past, he would stop by my office with each visit to the campus. I felt greatly honored.

He was so proud of his family, each time we spoke all of you were part of his conversation.

My prayers go out to you. God bless you and give you strength at this time.

I will never forget his...

Ann, Janet, Ellen and Rich I was so sadden to hear of Jack's passing. So glad to have had that last wonderful visit with him last summer. I was blessed to know such a wonderful man and all his knowledge and funny stories. He was a hoot to work with and for, kept me on my toes from time to time. I will miss him dearly. Our sincerest sympathy on Jack's passing.
He was a sincere, unique and humble man who could always make you smile. He loved life and people of all walks of life. Ann, he truly loved you and always said how lucky he was to have you in his life. Stay strong and keep your faith, you have a great family and many friends.
Love, Vera Hall and Dan

Simply put, Jack was one of the greatest guys I have ever met. He was a "man's man" who was also not afraid of that little 4-letter word "Love." Unlike a lot of guys, he used the word sincerely and freely. He had this uncanny ability to teach you something without you realizing you'd just been schooled. I remember with great fondness how we would solve the problems of the world over a few frosty cold beers (always from the fridge in the garage!). I am a better man today because of the time I...

Dear Mrs. Deering and family, My sincere condolences on your loss. My mother cherished the time spent with you and your husband at Colby and beyond. She would write or call if she could, but since she is unable, please accept my sympathy on her behalf. With affection, Kathy Ludwig, for Margaret Grant Ludwig

To the Deering Family, You are all in my thoughts and prayers during this very sad time. Husband, Dad, and grandfather is in such a better place and you may talk to him at anytime. Love to you all, Sandy Cushman

So sad to hear of Jack's passing. Like with Judy, he and I worked the "Mike and Jack Show" with Colby admissions (he'd insist on using my name as top billing"!) and lunch at Ricetta's with him was always a hoot. I've missed, and will always fondly remember, our chats-- warm, silly, feisty-- and how wise he was... and wise-cracking! Thanks for letting us share the world with you, Jack-- and to Ann, Rich, Ellen, Janet and the family, thanks for sharing him with us for so long.
