Not sure what to say?

A group of us college friends of John (always very affectionately known as Germ back then) just learned through social media that he is no longer with us. We have no words for this loss - in college, finding the right words would have been Germ's natural job, and he would make us laugh and think (and then laugh again) with them. Even though all of us went our separate ways, every NCAA tournament would unite us again, at least virtually, and John's passion was an undeniable force behind it. As...

I didn't know John well in high school but I remember him as a kind soul. I think his final gift to us was bringing our classmates back together and allowing us to renew friendships that had been lost over time. For that I will always be grateful to him.

I cannot believe that he is no longer with us.
I will remember him fondly. I am sorry for your loss.

To the Germanotta Family,

John was my friend, colleague and someone I respected immensely. I'll always remember him and how he positively touched my life. I'm thinking about your family and sending my thoughts and prayers your way.

I was shocked and sad to hear about John. While I have not seen him in a long time I considered him a friend and I have lots of fun memories of him. His smile is one thing that really sticks in my memories and brings me a smile when I think of it. Also, his sense of humor. He was always able to make me laugh. He was so bright and my memories of him are full of wit. I can't imagine what you all are going through. I only hope my thoughts and support could help more. I hope this note...
