Mihovk-Rosenacker Funeral Home - Evendale/Blue Ash Obituary

John “Jack” C. Mosteller, 92, passed away on Saturday March 2nd, 2024. Jack is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 65 years, Shirley A. Mosteller as well as their oldest son, Mark Mosteller, granddaughter, Amanda Chowning, and oldest son-in-law, Steve Chowning. Jack is survived by children, Terry Mosteller (husband to Carol), Lori Chowning, Brian Mosteller (husband to Hayley), and Melissa Mosteller (wife to David Sedivy). In addition, Jack is survived by his 15 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.

Jack grew up in Reading, Ohio with his parents Lillian (Williams) Mosteller and Clifford Mosteller as well as his brother Larry Mosteller and his sister Ella Mae (Mosteller) Wilder. He was an Airman First Class in the U.S. Air Force. A proud U.S. Air Force Veteran, he was a cryptographer in the Korean War.

In keeping with his commitment to service Jack was a volunteer firefighter who helped start the Mt. Repose/Miami Township Volunteer Fire Service in Clermont County.

Jack was a General Manager at SOHIO (Standard Oil) managing stations all over the Cincinnati area throughout his career.

Jack was the best Dad, Papaw, and Great Grandpa anyone could ask for always a playmate and consummate joker. He had a funny saying to go with any occasion appropriate and of course many that were inappropriate. Said sayings affectionately called “Jackisms”!

He was a a dessert loving, ice cream eating, Dr. Pepper loving guy. He was always first at the buffet table and you better watch your plate if you were sitting next to him. Most of all he was quick with a hug, a laugh, and he was most generous; Jack was one of a kind and he will be truly missed by all that knew and loved him!

Jack and Shirley were parishioners at St. Andrews Church in Milford Ohio, where they generously pledged and donated funds to help other parishioners build the gym many years ago. They were also long-time members of the Miami Hills Swim Club.

Visitation will be 10:00 AM until the time of service at 12:00 PM on Monday, March 11th, 2024, at Mihovk-Rosenacker Funeral Home, 10211 Plainfield Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45241. Christian burial follows at 1:00 PM at Rest Haven Memorial Park.
