John Jackson Obituary

John Dudley "Jack" Jackson, faithful follower of Jesus Christ, born Dec. 8, 1931, in Indianapolis, Ind., passed into the mansions of the Lord on Father's Day, June 16, 2013, in the presence of loved ones. Service: 1 p.m. Friday at North Richland Hills Baptist Church. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Chapel. Internment: 1:15 p.m. Monday in DFW National Cemetery with full military honors. "Jack" was a proud American who loved his country and served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Jack was a patriot and devout Christian who loved Jesus Christ and who served at church in roles from youth minister to Sunday school teacher. Jack attended the University of Arizona until being called into military service. Jack worked for Boeing in Seattle, Wash., from 1958-1960. He then became a ground flight instructor for American Airlines. Jack was given the Distinguished Award for Merit in 1971 by American Airlines, the highest award that American Airlines bestows upon an employee. He was later awarded the Goodwill Ambassador Extraordinaire by American Airlines in 1974 for his continued meritorious service to the company. In 1983, Jack ventured out and formed his own company, Jack Jackson and Associates. He spoke to thousands of people across the country over the next decade. Most important to Dudley were his family and church. Dudley had been a member of North Richland Hills Baptist Church since 1971. Dudley taught Sunday school all those years ranging from College and Career, to Singles Ministry, to the Ambassadors Class who loved him so much. Dudley constantly asked members of his congregation and class how he could pray for them. Dudley was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 49 years, Donna, in 2005, whom he took care of for so many years in faithful Christian service. "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints." Psalms 116:15. Survivors: His children: son, John Jackson and wife, Nancy, of The Woodlands; son, Rick Jackson and his wife, Lana, of North Richland Hills; daughter, Ginger Jackson Collins of North Richland Hills; grandchildren, Amy Jackson of New York, N.Y., Aaron Jackson of New York, N.Y., Josh Jackson of Visalia, Calif., Jake Jackson of Euless, Canyon Collins of North Richland Hills, Grant Oviatt of North Richland Hills; and brother and sister in Christ Jesus, Phil and Marilyn Strother of Bedford.

Terry Fremon and I were in the Ft Worth Sales office when Jack came in and introduced him self and told us he was a speaker and was willing to help in any way. Just so happened we had a big Fair Ladies reception comming up soon and we told him he would be welcome to address them. That was the beginning of Jack's adventure. He went on to give talks all over the system. At that point of time AA offered a distinguished award. One for merit and one for a special service. We Nominated Jack for Merit and he got it. While comming down in the elevator I think it was Pres Spader who asked him what he did to earn the award and Jack told him "I put on a rain dance"

Thank you for your wonderful friendship over the years Jack! You were especially helpful when i took an "early out" from American Airlines in 1995 in so many ways! I was honored to be asked by your family to give a eulogy in your honor and memory at your memorial service focusing on your American Airlines career. So many wonderful memories! Love you and miss you!

I first heard Jack speak when I was working for Canadian Airlines. I later met him in Houston and was hoping to get him back to speak to
A group that later formed Weatjet.
He was a man I will never forget. I often think "how would Jack say it"?
A very funny guy that could ensure you didn't forget what he wanted you to remember......himself included.
All my best to his family.

"Jack" was one of my ground school instructors as a new hire AAL pilot at LAX in 1966.Throughout grade school, high school , college and Airforce courses Jack stood above anybody I ever had as a teacher or instructor. One day he came into our class just as we had finished a difficult hour on the B-707 electrical system.... he recognized from the dazed look on our faces that we had a problem. He asked a few questions and then in just a few minutes, although it was not his subject, made understanding the electrical system, seem simple ...and made us laugh while he was doing it !..He had a rare gift ! what a GREAT guy! He will be missed by all who knew him . I.C. AAL Capt, ret'd

Ran into Jock today and he asked me to send this as he said the immediate family really didn't know much about his airline career. I was a Sales rep in the Ft worth Office and your Dad walked in and introduced himself as a ground school instructor at the AA Flight Academy and said he did a little public speaking and he would be happy to help us if we could use him Terry Freemon was the Sales manager and we listened. We had an event coming up and we had no plan so we agreed to have Jack speak to the group. These were women from local companies who were instrumental in booking their employees on AA. There were about 100 of them and we knew all of them by name. The event was at Will Rogers coliseum and the house was packed and it was my job to introduce your Dan and I never spoke to a crowd before and I was scared to death. I knew his full history and I had my intro down pat. When the curtain opened and I saw all those people I went out and said "Ladies and Gentlemen
Jack Jackson and made a quick exit. There is much mort I could tell you but this would get too long. If any of you have any more interest in his activities please, please feel free to call me at 817-419-0172 Don Smith. Have a pencil ready to jot down some notes

Dear Jackson Family--Jack came into the AA City Ticket Office at Rufe Snow & 820 when I worked there. He was always a delight to assist with his travel arrangements and was wonderful to visit with. When the office closed after 9/11, I really missed him. My prayers are with you during this difficult time.
