John Kinnett Obituary

Kinnett, John Arthur Patrick

John Arthur Patrick Kinnett began his journey to the Lord on February 7, 2016 surrounded by his family at the age of 80 in Austin, Texas. He resided in Buda, Texas.

Born August 18, 1935 in Lawrenceburg, Indiana to Anne Ethel (Johnston) and Arthur Denton Kinnett.

John was a remarkable man who touched the hearts of everyone he met.

John is survived by his wife, Josephine, the love of his life; daughter Elizabeth, sons Larry and Dan, and his son-in-law Kevin, whom he regarded as his third son. Grandchildren Crystal, John Daniel, Jacob, Victoria, Laura, Dale and Joslyn and their spouses and fiancés; great-grandchildren Samantha, Isaac, Jeremiah, Ellah, Rylyn and Madi.

He was blessed to have found a second family with Josephine and is survived by his step-children JoAnn (Layton), Steve (Angie) and their children Joel, Anna, Matheau, Marcus, Mitchell, Steven and Micah.

Cousins Bill Johnston, Gary Kinnett, Connie Brown, Larry William Kinnett, Ron Kinnett, Mary Lou Crouch, Janice Dawson, Wilford Grace, and Clayton Kinnett.

His 'special little brother' Jeremiah Busch and wife Cindy. Longtime friends Roger and Jackie Quealy, Marlin and Mary Tanck, Nancy Mueller, Paul and Gale Curtain, Doug and Anne Patterson, and Jim and Mary Lou Kelly.

A Memorial Rosary and Mass were celebrated at Santa Cruz Catholic Church, Buda, TX February 12, 2016.

His Wisconsin Clan will celebrate John's life Sunday, March 13, 2016 in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, where he began his family with Marion (Runke) Kinnett (Gorr) (deceased). A noon service will be held in the Chapel at St. Joseph Cemetery where he will be interned.

John served his country and was an honorably discharged United States Coast Guard Veteran 1954-1958.

His career in education included English teacher at Southern Door HS, Door County, Wisconsin, UW Wisconsin Professor, and Educational Administrator with the Sheboygan School District, Sheboygan, Wisconsin and Austin Independent School District, Austin, Texas.

Upon retirement, he moved on to dedicating his life to the growth of Santa Cruz Catholic Church in Buda, TX. He served the Lord as a Eucharist Minister and was a member of the Sacred Heart Men's Club. But his true passion were the children and the joy they brought to his life as he touched their lives in ways that can only be described as pure and true love.

Memorials should be in the form of donations to Santa Cruz Elementary School Library/Media Center, 1100 Main St, Buda, TX 78610

Special thanks to the staff of Seton Medical Center who cared for John, his many friends at Santa Cruz Catholic Church, Susan and the staff of RedBud HomeCare, his "Romeo Club" friends, his personal doctors, nurses and their staff, and all the people he met along the way that meant so much to him.

A great optimist, a great educator. We shared good times when working for Austin ISD and in golden years.
Blessings to the family.

In the 1970s, I worked with John in developing an ESL program in Sheboygan and from that contact, we became, and remained, very good friends for many years. He was a man of many talents and of great heart. I will sorely miss him. My condolences to Jo and to his family, all of whom he loved so very much.
