Dear Mrs. Lyons and Family,

As you know, Lee and I just learned of Mr. Lyons passing yesterday and are so sorry our condolendences are only reaching you now. Lee and I lived next door to Mr. & Mrs. Lyons for 3 years in Greenwich and it was always a pleasure to see him out and about. We fully expected that his spirit would carry him past 100 years but unfortunately his body could not. On Saturday, I learned of John's death form mutual friends at the Re-Al Club. He was always there, always took a lot of interest in me and, over the last 23 years, always made me feel welcome. Even though I have not met you all yet, I want you to know how saddened I am to receive this news and how much he will be missed.
