John H. "Jack" Matre

I just found out Mr. Matre had passed, while I was looking him up this morning. I am very sorry to hear of his loss. He was my music teacher from 5th grade, all the way through senior year (1982) at RHS. We always enjoyed his sense of humor and the way in which he truly mentored us. In marching band, we used to call him "That Silver Haired Daddy of Mine". He always took our shenanigans in stride, but when it was time to get down to business, he had a way to get us back on track and focus....

I knew Jack for a short time thru the Cecil Young Orch. & developed a lasting friendship.

My sincere condolences to the Matre family and friends. John has certainly lived a life of wisdom and life experiences. May your memories of John be very comforting for you. The true God above can be your helper and comforter during this very difficult time. Matthew 5:4

It can be so hard to face the first year without your loved one, but the love of family and friends can carry you through.

Sorry to hear about Mr Matre. He was my music teacher all thru school. I graduated in 1970. He was a great man and teacher. I had a lot of respect for him.I would run into him,once in a while when he played in the band on New Years Eve.

RIP Mr Matre. He taught me and my six siblings music in high school. He will be missed.
