Not sure what to say?

Thinking of you on your birthday my dear friend Peggy Scott MD

We were great friends in high school and spent years in the same Boy Scout Troop and worked summers with for the parents of another good friend. I recall his happiness at the birth of Sean. As too often happens lost contact with him. It is wonderful to hear he had such a full life and clearly did so much good. He likely stayed his 16 year old self.

My thoughts and prayers are with the McCarthy Family. Dr McCarthy was my PCP since I the late 1980's. Having grown up in Burlington I still traveled to Lahey from New Hampshire for regular doctor appointments. During my most recent visit Dr. McCarthy joked with me that I was one of "his oldest patients". He then chuckled and pardoned himself saying that I was one of his original patients. Dr. McCarthy was one of the kindest people I've ever met. He will truly be missed by everyone...

I was truly saddened to learn of Dr.McCarthy’s death. He was kind, compassionate yet professional. Throughout the years I always enjoyed our conversations. He never “rushed” the appointment and I knew I was in good hands. I send sincere condolences to his family, the medical community and his patients. M.Kuschel

I am so heartbroken to hear of Dr. McCarthy's passing. He was one of a kind and leaves such a legacy on this earth in terms of the people he care for over the years. He treated three generations of my family with the highest level of service. He had the best bedside manner. My grandmother loved going to see him, and I'm certain he helped my uncle live longer than he otherwise might have. I trusted his advice. It was obvious to me that he genuinely cared about his patients, above all. A model...

"Dr. Mac" was my PCP for almost 25 years. I first met him in the Emergency Room after my son scratched my cornea. He became my PCP soon thereafter. He was my friend. As noted by so many people, it never felt like it was just an exam. It was always a conversation about our families, your dogs, skiing and most recently, your ill-fated EV test drive. He was so personable and I will miss him dearly. My sincere condolences to the entire McCarthy Clan.

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow. Just reading the comments of his friends and Patients are a true statement to the amazing man Dr John McCarthy . All of our hearts are broken and filled with sorrow, He will be greatly missed but will live on in all of our hearts and thoughts. I am hoping that the planned celebration of life for John will be posted for all wishing to attend. We all have such wonderful stories and memories to share. His legacy will live on with all of...

To the Family of Dr. John McCarthy: I am truly sorry for your loss. Dr. McCarthy was my PCP at Lahey for about 30 years. He was a very caring, kind and competent doctor. He patiently went over my page of notes for each annual visit and called me "kiddo" which always made me smile even though I suspected that he wasn´t that much older than myself. I will miss him dearly. May the memories and love fill your hearts and carry you through this difficult time. In peace, Terri SooHoo
