O'Neill Funeral Home - Cumberland Obituary

John E. McHale, 88, of Cumberland, passed away Saturday, July 23, 2016. He was the husband of Jean (Hall) McHale, they were happily married for 64 years.

Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late Jack and Laura (Tellier) McHale.

John was a US Navy Veteran serving during WWII. He was a Cumberland Firefighter and Police Officer for several years before going back to school. He earned a Bachelor's Degree from Brown University and later a Master's Degree from Sussex University. He then worked as Medical Tester for the State of RI for over 35 years before retiring. He also managed the Cumberland Little League and Pee Wee Football for many years.

Besides his wife he is survived by three children, Thomas McHale of Harrisville, Patricia Kanner and her husband Russell of Orlando, Florida and Kevin McHale of Cumberland; one granddaughter; two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, July 27, 2016 from 4-7 PM in the O'NEILL Funeral Home, 3102 Mendon Rd., Cumberland. Funeral and burial will be private.
