I met Captain Meighan as the dad of a new and alarmingly lovely and nice friend (Marybeth)I made on the bus home from Immaculata High one day. We became thick as thieves and had so much in common. As a young gawky high schooler, Captain Meighan was different from most parents/fathers. He engaged with us at every opportunity and listened keenly to what we were up to. His merry eyes were warm and inviting, which made up for his height and shoulders! After I turned my own father down at the IPS...
