I met Captain Meighan as the dad of a new and alarmingly lovely and nice friend (Marybeth)I made on the bus home from Immaculata High one day. We became thick as thieves and had so much in common. As a young gawky high schooler, Captain Meighan was different from most parents/fathers. He engaged with us at every opportunity and listened keenly to what we were up to. His merry eyes were warm and inviting, which made up for his height and shoulders! After I turned my own father down at the IPS "Pop hop" dance to dance, Captain Meighan asked me to dance. I could not refuse. He twirled me all over while Marybeth danced with my (slightly wounded) dad. We four had the best of times and they ever ended as over the years we reunited. He was a father to us all during carpool to school, jobs and dances. I feel blessed to have known him and will always cherish and love all things Meighan. Kathy "Mac" Crowley.
