Not sure what to say?

My sincerest of condolences to the family and friends of the Mellish family. John will stay in the hearts of many generations of Rugby players. There will always be a special dedication with the James River Rugby Club towards Coach Mellish and deep appreciation towards his efforts of excellence in the laws of the game.
God bless John Mellish.

Dear Bev and Family,
I was saddened to hear of the loss of your Dad. I have been thinking of you over the past days and will continue to keep you and your loved ones in my thoughts and prayers.
Fondly,
Emilie

Jean and Family -- Sorry for your loss (and rugby's) -- John inspired so very many referees and guided so many evaluators, and always in gentlest ways -- Thank you for sharing John all the years.

Jean and Family:
We lost a good man. I recall many chats over the Laws and most of all I recall his love of the sport without personal agendas. His early work set the table.

Jean,Stuart and Beverly,

My heart felt sympathy to you all. John was a big influence on many an American rugby player and referee. If ever there was a personifcation of "giving back to rugby" it was John. For my era, players and referees, John was one of the great teachers along with Bill Nelson and Don Morrison. He shall be missed not only for his contributions to USA rugby but also by the many friendships he forged along the way. He was a very honest and caring man. He will be missed!

Beverly & Family - Just wanted you to know that I am thinking of you during this time. I will keep you in my prayers.

Jean,
Thank you so much for sharing John with us in the rugby community. His generosity and dedication were exemplary, and the influence he had on us is impossible to relate in words. John's integrity and bonhomie has been and will always be an inspiration for as long as I live. He lives in the hearts of all those who were lucky enough to get to know him.

My condolences to the Mellish family, John was a big influence on my rugby career, as my first coach he (being a #8 also) taught my position well, he helped me learn the laws (never call them rules) & always had great stories while enjoying a pint after practice or game. I'll never forget our trip to Mexico together w/ UVA.John will be sorely missed by all.

I remember John Mellish well as a young player with Norfolk City RFC. I held immense respect for John's ability to ref and manage 30 rugby players during a match. My deepest sympathy to John's family. Godspeed.
