John Charles Picone

John Charles Picone passed away after an eight year battle with prostate cancer, on Monday, March 24, 2014 at the age of 67. Beloved husband for 36 years to Margaret Avett Picone. Father of Charles Anthony Picone and Kayla Lucy Picone. He will be sadly missed by his constant companion Sparky. Mr. Picone was an Army veteran who served during the Vietnam War. He was an Accountant/CPA at Louisiana Steam Equipment for the past 29 years, and a parishioner of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church for 37 years. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. Alton Sartor and his staff at Tulane Medical and Cancer Center. With their help, he was able to participate in numerous trials, and was able to supply much needed information in the fight against prostate cancer. Thanks also to Jay D'Amico and his second family at Louisiana Steam Equipment for their love and support.Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at 12:00 Noon. Interment will follow in All Saints Mausoleum. A visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, prayers or Masses would be greatly appreciated.
