Dear Laura, Kyle, and Ellie, and all of the Rathbun Family,

I was saddened to learn of John's passing on 11/10/16. While I was living in Noank , John was my neighbor, and I have fond memories of John, and I, having good talks over the fence, and I learned of his wisdom. On other occasions, I appreciated his quick suggestions about how to fix my lawn mower when it puttered out, and with other things on the property! He seemed to have a sixth sense of how to fix things! I am sure...

Laura,Kyle & Ellie, I am so very sorry for your loss. I know your dad and grandfather were a big part of your life. No matter how sick or old you can never prepare yourself for the loss of a loved one. RIP Mr. Rathbun.

I'll never forget how John came over to my house and helped out with our flooded basement. He was a great man, a scholar, and a wonderful role model.
