In the book "Ted's Travelling Circus" ... the history of the 93rd bomb group, John Roche is mentioned 25 times. Only two other men were mentioned more often. The 93rd commander, Ted Timberlake and George S. Brown who became the chairman of the joint chiefs in the last 60's. John "Packy" Roche was a true American Hero. God Bless Him.

I never meet Col.John R. Roche nor any of his family but I wish I would have because we would have a lot to talk about. I'm sure we new a lot of the same people and quite possibly he may even new my father and his pilot as they to were aviators in the 8th.A.A.C.93rd.Bomb Group and also flew the Aug 1,1943 Polesti oil refinery raid. I have a special limited edition painting deplicting the B24 Liberators over the refinery, books on Polesti that are from that time period if any of the immediate family are interested. I am going to try and attend one or both services out of deep respect and admiration for this great american hero who went in harms way and made it back. My sincerest feelings of sorrow go out to all the family, may God give you all peace of mind and watch over you in this time of need.
