LAKE GEORGE --- John Joseph Ross II of Lake George, NY passed away suddenly on Friday, December 8, 2017 at his home on Equinox Drive; he was 68 years old.
Born on June 2, 1949, John was the son of the late John Ross and Esther (Marcino) Ross of Whitehall, New York. He graduated from Whitehall High School in 1967, lettering in 3 sports. John attended Siena College and received a degree in Marketing. He was employed for over 30 years with AXA Equitable Advisors where he devoted his life to helping clients achieve financial security.
Through the lives of his children, John was able to preserve his passion for sports. His legacy as a coach and mentor touched countless lives throughout the community and enriched his own.
All his life, John was a devout Roman Catholic and attended weekly mass at the parish of Sacred Heart. John loved Lake George and spent many wonderful years boating, swimming, and exploring the wonder and beauty of the ‘Queen of American Lakes’. His greatest love of all, though, was his immediate and extended family along with a multitude of cherished friendships.

His 2 sisters, Mary Anne Ross and Jean Huntington, his brother, Frank Ross, as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews also survive him.
The family will accept visitors on Friday, December 15 from 4pm-7pm at Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, NY 12804.
A service will be held the following day, Saturday, December 16 at 1pm at Saint Mary’s Church in Glens Falls.

John was one of my closest friends for nearly 50 years. We were roommates at Sienna College and, by coincidence, he had known my wife Laurene's family since childhood. I spoke to him just a day before his passing; dreaming about being out on the lake as we always did. We had countless experiences, far too many to mention, but all great memories now. My best to Leslie, John, Mia and James. Rossi will never leave you or any of us, that would not be his style. He is still here in our memories...

Our deepest condolences to John's family! We are so very sorry for your loss. John began as our family financial planner in the late 1980's. He became a trusted friend. When he would come to review my mothers finances the whole family would come just to visit with John! He bragged about his entire family- we heard stories of growing up in Whitehall, antics of he & his siblings, proud stories about his children & he spoke of his wife with such a twinkle in his eye! We even heard stories about...

Condolences to your family. I met John through sports. My son, Kevin played against James in baseball, basketball, & soccer. We first met at Little League tournaments, where I coached for Argyle & John coached with Tom Callahan for LG. Later on James & Kevin played together on the Adirondack Reds. John was a great guy and always displayed sportsmanship and grace, no matter the result of the game.
God Bless.

Heartbreaking news.
Mr. Ross, Mia's Dad, Coach. He was an important part of my pre-teen and high school years through all the sports Mia and I played together. Hours and hours spent at the Ross house over the years and he always welcoming and caring. So funny! So many good memories of him.
What a wonderful man to celebrate and remember... And miss.
Prayers for Peace for you all.
