I still sing The Birthday Song even tho I am 62 now. I and the other Valley kids were Blessed to have him as part of our learning about the world and manners, among many other things. Wow, thank you, I never would have known about him being a Hero to our Country, and not just to me. What a great story about a great man.
I'll never forget when my Grandmother sent in my name for the birthday part of his show. I was the winner, right after the real winner was called and picked. I really was not the real winner, but to hear my name on TV I thought that I was a winner.

I loved Sheriff John. He was my constant companion especially during the summers when school was out and I was home by myself. What a great man. I learned the Pledge of Allegiance from Sheriff John!!

I'm a little wait finding out about Sheriff John's death but he was a real inspiration to me. I remember sitting with my football helmet on at a tv tray while he said my name for the birthday. What a wonderful person. Thanks Sheriff John hope to see you in heaven.

Sheriff John brightened my day. To this day I quietly sing the Birthday Cake Polka to myself on my birthday. He had a way of making each and every child special. Thank you.
