Not sure what to say?

Judy I am so sorry for your loss. The silver lining is he died peacefully at home with you. I hope he did not suffer at all. And I hope you are doing as well as can be expected. Thinking of you--Stacy West, Esq.

I was so incredibly lucky to know John and to report to him for 2 years at Morgan Lewis. He was the head of the Firm Practice Development Committee and taught. me so much about business development, logical thinking, empathy and strategic thinking. And he did all of this with patience, a huge sense of humor and a wonderful smile. I will never forget getting his xmas card, always signed "Judy and John", every year since I left the firm 32 years ago. I will treasure all of my memories of you...

Single Memorial Tree

I was John´s secretary at Morgan Lewis. He treated me with respect and we shared a true friendship even after he retired from Morgan Lewis - for that I will always treasure it.

As an undergraduate at Harvard College he was an officer serving in multiple positions on the staff of the undergraduate radio broadcast station, WHRB (FM).

John and I were classmates at St Albans School. I remember him as curious, encouraging, optimistic, and an attitude that nothing could get him down. I never played soccer before but made the team as a second string halfback. John played wing. Whenever I got in trouble, I got it to John. He knew what to do.

With sincere condonlences, he will be missed.

John Shenefield was an extraordinary presence at President Carter´s Department of Justice. He was brought to Attorney General Griffin Bell´s attention by Justice Lewis Powell, who had known John at Hunton & Williams, as the best lawyer he had ever known. That is the context I first came to known John, and it set the standard for the rest of his very productive life. He was a gentleman, a scholar, and cared deeply for his family, friends, the National Cathedral, his law firms, and his quest...
