Not sure what to say?

I am so sorry to have missed Mr. Siegel's Celebration of Life. I was one of thousands of students who counted Mr. Siegel as one of the best teachers I ever had. I was already interested in history, but he brought the past into the present and helped me connect today with what had come before. Witty, but never unkind. Demanding, but never beyond what we were capable of. One of my real regrets was having to move before my senior year at LSHS and therefore missing out on Mr. Siegel's Far...

Colleague at LSHS who quickly became a friend with similar interests in history and language... thank you, John for the conversations, friendship, knowledge, philosophy, and camaraderie. I'm glad we kept up with each other these last years after your retirement... adding to the wealth of your presence. I will always treasure knowing John Segal.

We invite friends, former colleagues and students to join us for John's Celebration of Life at 2:00P.M. on Sunday, November 23, 2025 at H.M. Patterson and Son-Arlington Chapel 173 Allen Road in Sandy Springs, GA 30328. We would love to hear your favorite stories and memories of John.

John, I will deeply miss your holiday cheer, wit, and insightful chats. I always looked forward to our time together, and I am proud to have called you uncle! Thank you for sharing your passion with the world and bringing history to life, everywhere you went.

A born teacher and a fine man. I am one of the many blessed to have had him in my life.

Mr. Siegel was an outstanding history teacher. He brought his amazing historical artifacts into the classroom and brought history to life. He had such a passion for teaching and learning, and I think students couldn't help but get engaged as a result. He helped us read, write, and think about the past in important ways. He also became a dear friend after graduation. He attended my wedding out in Portland, OR. Later, I worried greatly about damaging thousand-year old treasures when we visited...

I TP'd his house once... by making my mom stop the car at the side of the road in Buckhead just for me to slide a single sheet into his mailbox, which I signed. As many classes and clashes as I had with him, it was his wit and humor I remember most fondly. A legen-wait for it-dary trip to London, later encouraging me to take my father on an educational trip to Russia. Scholar Bowl, HighQ... The death by a thousand compliments that was his job recommendation, still framed on my wall. I don't...

Mr. Siegel was one of the best teachers I ever had. I was truly lucky to be able to learn from him multiple times. He was someone I felt very comfortable speaking with on all aspects of my life. He is greatly missed. Any child was very lucky to have been able to call him their teacher. I have several happy core memories from high school that involve him. I´m very sorry to his family as his loss is a great one.

Mr. Siegel was one of the best teachers I ever had. His history classes were fun and engaging, I learned so much from him. The London trip I took with one of his classes is one of my fondest memories. He will be missed.
