Earlier today
I TP'd his house once... by making my mom stop the car at the side of the road in Buckhead just for me to slide a single sheet into his mailbox, which I signed. As many classes and clashes as I had with him, it was his wit and humor I remember most fondly. A legen-wait for it-dary trip to London, later encouraging me to take my father on an educational trip to Russia. Scholar Bowl, HighQ... The death by a thousand compliments that was his job recommendation, still framed on my wall. I don't know how much I remember from what he taught, all these decades later, but I learned more from him than he ever knew. Dosvedanya, Sir!

Mr. Siegel was one of the best teachers I ever had. I was truly lucky to be able to learn from him multiple times. He was someone I felt very comfortable speaking with on all aspects of my life. He is greatly missed. Any child was very lucky to have been able to call him their teacher. I have several happy core memories from high school that involve him. I´m very sorry to his family as his loss is a great one.

Mr. Siegel was one of the best teachers I ever had. His history classes were fun and engaging, I learned so much from him. The London trip I took with one of his classes is one of my fondest memories. He will be missed.

Mr. Siegel was a legend at Lithia Springs High School, and I was honored to be in his AP European History class. His love of history was infectious, and his insight and experience always made the classroom brighter. Rest in peace, Mr. Siegel.

Mr. Siegel was a great teacher. I took his Far Eastern History class, and loved it! Somehow, he made a boring subject interesting and fun! He was witty and so knowledgeable. I am honored to have been one of his students.

He was one of my favorite teachers. He made class interesting with his historical documents, photos and stories that he shared with us as students. He came to the all class LSHS reunion in 2021 to see his former co-workers and students. I was glad to get to see him and speak with him again after so many years.

I loved him as a teacher. He taught me German because I took the class but also helped me learn more about the place because I was born there. He made learning fun, I'll never forget a handout he gave in German class that started out in English then turned into German.

I would love to come to Mr. Siegel's memorial once it is planned.
My prayers for his family. One of my favorite teachers. I loved the way he dressed up depending on the topic we were studying. Only good memories of this teacher making positive impacts on me. You can not say that of every teacher at Lithia Springs High School.
Family may contact me by email attached to this message.
Again my condolences and prayers for you all.

I cannot begin to thank " Herr" Siegel. He was a great teacher and a great friend. He is one of my inspirations as a teacher. I can only pray that someday my son finds a teacher such as you.

I have nothing but fond memories of Mr. Siegel. Like many that will comment here he was my teacher at Lithia Springs High School, but he was much, much more important to me at a moment in my life where I needed true mentorship. He inspired me to become a lifelong student of history and to always be a critical, serious thinker. May John´s memory be a blessing across many generations.

John was my teacher and friend for over 40 years. In school and even afterwards, when I would visit him at LSHS, he would always greet me in Japanese. Early on, I didn´t understand a single word he said but he inspired me to learn my grandfather´s native language and thence forth we would converse in Japanese in front of his students which surely added to the awesomeness that was our Mr. Siegel. Rest in peace thy good and noble servant of God and thousands of young minds. You are missed.

I never had John as a teacher at Lithia, but I came to know him as a friend. He was Godfather to my two youngest kids. He had just sent his Goddaughter a gift for her high school graduation in May. We take time with our loved ones for granted. He will be missed. Because John loved to travel so much, I take comfort in knowing that he has traveled to his heavenly home where he can rest peacefully in the Father's arms.

The most dedicated teacher I´ve ever met. He didn´t have a job - he had a passion. I so vividly remember walking into class and he was wearing a Pickelhaube ... the most impactful way to ever teach AP history. His kindness, dedication and helping hand was so appreciated by so many. I am thankful I was able to keep in touch with him after graduation and met him occasionally around the world on his many travels. He will truly be missed! Ruhe in Frieden, mein Freund.

I taught with John at DCHS before Lithia opened. But over the years, I also "bumped"into him over Scholar Bowl activities and over other student-centered activities. He was brilliant! His love of learning about and experiencing global communities through travel was absolutely contagious. I know he inspired and made a lasting impression on many young people in his classes over the many years. What a wonderful life! He was kind, generous, witty, and so dedicated to teaching and helping the young people who were fortunate enough to have known him. I am sorry to hear he has passed on.

I had the honor of having him as my German teacher. My brothers also had him for various subjects. To say this is a loss is an understatement. He was a gifted teacher, but also a gift to students. His caring went beyond education, into people´s lives. The pages and pages of responses from former students on social media speaks volumes! As one woman said, "His students are his legacy." Truer words were never spoken! RIP Mr. Siegel. You are loved and missed!

Mr. Siegel was my history teacher at LSHS the first year the school was in service. I liked his style so much I also took his class as a senior. I called him "Coach Siegel" at one point and we both got a great laugh at that. His dedication to teaching is remembered by so many, even 47 years removed from his classroom. The world is a smaller place now. God Bless you sir, rest in peace.

Mr. Siegel was the first teacher my son, Kris, met at Lithia Springs High School and was a great influence on him. There are so many kind words about as a person and teacher but to my son, he was a friend.

John was one of the best teachers -- at any level -- that I've ever had. He also sponsored (and "coached") the Scholar Bowl team that was a cornerstone of my high school experience. He approached both with passion, wit, humorous sarcasm, and above all a dedication to excellence. All who had the good fortune to be in Herr Siegel's class will never forget his positive influence. Prayers for his family, and thanks for the memories.

Dear Herr Siegel, I would like to send you a "wise guy" message because I think you would appreciate it. I know how much I appreciated all your bright, witty, inspiring comments over the years. Keep 'em laughing up there! Miss you. Elizebeth

John was like a father to me for the 13 years we taught together, 12 of which as next door neighbors. The extent of his faith and kindness was truly second to none. His presence in this world will be sorely missed, but I take comfort in knowing I'll see him again, relatively soon. After all, when we've been there ten thousand years...
I just hope my Daddy and Mr. Moe Bruner can show him around up there.
