Not sure what to say?

So sorry to hear about John passing away. He was always a friendly and kind person who contributed immensely to our communities. I served on a few boards with him and really appreciated his sage advice and genuine concern for each organization to achieve a successful mission. He was always so kind to me when I started working as a lawyer in downtown Utica in the late 1980´s. John was one of the first people to congratulate me when my son received an appointment to the US Naval Academy. A...

I started at Dale Engineering as an accountant and being John's secretary. I left as controller. He was the best boss I had ever had. Always had a smile, even when at Masonic Home. He is missed. Fly with Pegsy & the angels.

Dear Martha, John and families, Please accept our condolences on the passing of your beloved father. May the memories of him comfort you in the days ahead. Love, Dick and Shirley

Single Memorial Tree

I first met John at Cornell. He was there, in 1964, as Dale Engineering Company, among the Boeings, Jet Propulsion Labs, U.S. Steel, and others. What a genial and convincing man. I became the first young rookie graduate engineer for his firm. He nurtured and supported me for 13 years, and, when I became self employed, he always had my back for another 40 plus years of building projects at MVCC and the Stanley Theater Stagehouse. You done me real good John Stetson, and for that I am most...

John was such a kind and compassionate person. He always had so much to tell and so much to say.. a truly wonderful person. I'm glad I was able to know him and listen to him talk. I give my deepest condolences to his family. Thank you for your wonderful service John, you are loved and will be missed by many.

When I joined Dale Engineering Co in 1964, I became part of a very small 5-man firm situated on a small partial floor of the Brock Building. When I retired in 2003 this fledgling company that John started had become an integral part of an international design powerhouse. There are few among us who can accomplish such a thing and the real wonder of it all was that John always led with humor, compassion and competence. In all of my years with the firm I never heard him utter even a minor swear...

To the Stetson Family, Both Mark and I are very sorry for your great loss. John was a true scholar, gentleman, loving family man and a true neighbor. We still remember the day we met John at Jack Millers house over 47 years ago. He and your Mom welcomed us with his great smile and open arms. There are fewer and fewer people like John Stetson. He was amazingly accomplished yet so very, very humble. I was blessed to also know him as one of the truly concerned and most dedicated members of the...

John created a design firm with positive, can-do leadership. Always with kindness and encouragement and a `plan of the day.´ The phenomenal growth and success was testament to his one-of-a-kind style.
