John was a wonderful member of the Golden Gate Wine Society enjoying the camaraderie as well easily sharing his enjoyment about food and wine at the events. I know he will be missed as his life touched so many people around the world and myself. Rest in peace.

I only just learned of this profound and sad loss to John's family, his community and the larger family certainly with anyone or anything connected to Japan. His commitment and dedication was inspiring and I always enjoyed dialoguing with John on issues of international significance.
