John was a wonderful member of the Golden Gate Wine Society enjoying the camaraderie as well easily sharing his enjoyment about food and wine at the events. I know he will be missed as his life touched so many people around the world and myself. Rest in peace.

My heart goes out to the family of John Thomas, who was my boss during my time as president of the Japan Society of Northern California. John's set the highest standards for himself and for all who worked under him, and there were lots of late nights and even weekends at the offie as under his leadership we launched the innovation awards that transformed Japan Society from a San Francisco organization to one known throughout Silicon Valley. But he was also a supportive friend, and I remember wonderful nights at parties he threw for the Japan Society board at the lovely house in Marin. I last saw John for a coffee on a visit back to the bay area some years after I left the Society and returned to Tokyo, but I will never forget him and those wild and productive days at JSNC. He will be missed by all who knew him

I only just learned of this profound and sad loss to John's family, his community and the larger family certainly with anyone or anything connected to Japan. His commitment and dedication was inspiring and I always enjoyed dialoguing with John on issues of international significance. We shared a love of the Japanese community as I worked in the technology sector with HP and in Japan with many of our partners. Farewall John-san. You will always be warmly remembered. And love, blessings, empathy and sympathy to Joyce and the whole family I have become fond of through the years. Love, Bonnie (Nixon)
