John “Johnny” Charles Thompson

I did not know that Johnny has passed. I taught acoustic guitar at his store during the early 1970s, and worked with "Big Mike" and others. His store was more than a store-it was an enter for the music of that era. My time working there was some of my best times due to the people I met and the environment Johnny created. I miss those times and hope Johnny´s family knows how much he enriched the lives of people like me.

Johnny was a great man! I took guitar lessons at his store with Gil London and Kent Henry. I remember talking to his dad and mom at both stores. I go way back, when the store was located next to the Montery theater on Garfield and "new" studio on Garvey. Johnny was always friendly to me. Thank you Johnny for all you did for me by giving me the opportunity of taking lessons and encouraging me (changed my life) ! Tony Thor
