John Updike

To John Updike's family; I did not know Mr. Updike but his father, Dr. Glenn Updike, was my physician and delivered both of my children. If his son is anything like him, he was a kind, thoughtful, giving gentleman. I am so very sorry for your loss. God bless you during this sad time.

I remember John back in 1971 when I was with assistant pro at Danville. golf club. he would hang out in the pro shop and had quite a personality! I never saw him without a smile It is my prayer That Sandy and the rest of the family will receive God's comfort and peace during this time of sorrow

I first met John Updike when he moved next door to me in the mid-1980s. My toddler daughter immediately fell for his sweet nature and we all welcomed the inclusion of the love of his life, Sandy. They were the best neighbors ever and we remained close friends. John is just one of those people that leaves the world reminding us of the importance of family, civility, kindness, and the pursuit of joy. Charlottesville music folk knew John well and admired his bluegrass and folk music...
