Not sure what to say?

With deep fondness, I remember John, whom I knew as chief resident at Presbyterian University Medical Center. These many years later, I still grieve the untimely loss of this talented physician. May his soul rest in eternal love, and may light perpetual shine upon him.

I was starting as a cardiology fellow at AEMC when John was starting as an attending Cardiologist. He knew so much more then we and so it was important to him to teach us. It was important to him that we learn. When we did he somehow allowed a comradeship to develop which lasted beyond the training. I must say this characterized the Cardiology program of Dr. Harry Goldberg the Department Chair. John was a very good human being. His family suffered a grave loss as did his patients when he...

I am speechless! John was a wise, compassionate Chief Resident at Presbyterian Hospital when I was an Intern there. He was a vital part of the Philadelphia medical community, and I am deeply saddened about his death. His family is in my prayers.

What a shock to find John's name in the alumni obituaries section of the Pennsylvania Gazette! I knew him when we were undergraduates at Penn. He was such a sweet guy, kind and caring, and he looked forward to a career helping others. My condolences to all of you on your untimely loss. May you be comforted by memories of happy times together.

I was so sorry to read about John's death in the Pennsylvania Gazette just now. I have not seen him in many years but remember him well. We were friends and classmates at Penn Med School in the mid seventies and also interns together at Presbyterian Hospital 1976-77. John was the nicest guy, a really wonderful person and classmate. My sincerest sympathy to his family.

Dr Wertheimer was my preceptor while i was a NP student at LaSalle. What a phenominal person and genuinely fine human being. I am stunned at this news. My condolences to his family

Dear Barbara, Julie and Sam

I just received this terrible news from my mother who lives in Florida. The community's loss is great. Your loss is greater.

As you may remember, John and I met in 1991 when John was moving into full-time private practice. I "replaced" John as director of the Cardiac Care Unit at Einstein Medical Center. The quotes indicate that John was, and is, irreplaceable. John helped me learn the job of CCU director, although I distinctly remember that some...

I have many fond memories of John from AEMC days in the CCU! I remember John as an extremely intelligent cardiologist willing to share his knowledge but what set him apart was his genuine compassion for his patients. A kind and gentle giant I feel privileged to have worked with him. My deepest sympathies to Barbara and his daughters, who he adored. You will be in my prayers for Gods love and peace in the days ahead.
Sincerely,
Jeannette Filson Small

To the family:

John lived 2 doors down from our family on Sharpnack Street in Philadelphia. I was a few years younger than John, and remember looking up to him, particularly his shelf of sports trophies from Little League. We were friendly with John and his parents. My mom still tells stories of John walking me to elementary school. Sorry to hear of your loss - wanted to share this memory of John from long ago...
