Not sure what to say?

In Gratitude & Kindness. "Go to a different county -- or to a different part of your own -- and you will remember how varied the world is. When you return home, be sure to keep that sense of possibility alive." Meditations On Design by John Wheatman (2000). Rest In Peace Kind Soul.

He guides my designs even today!

I was so inspired by John´s book A Good House is Never Done that I wanted to take a class at UC Extension and found this obituary. I will work with this book to enhance my 65 year old kitchen. I appreciate the focus in sustainability, and I will try and get a formica cover for my 60 year old Australia maple dining table that shows some wear and tear. and i will add a cot on the porch. Thanks John for all the inspiration

What a privilege to have spent
Such delightful times with John!!!
Such a generosity of fun and elegance, he lived and shared!
Once, We arrived a day early to his home, for a party.
He never missed a beat, and we enjoyed a delightful time with him all to ourselves!!!!
Our Heartfelt condolences to
Suzanne and all his loving family.

John Wheatman -- the consummate gentleman and designer. His legacy will be timeless, just as has always been the case with his creations. Several quotations will long remain: "every palacio has its cracks; if you choose to do it, don't hesitate to make a forceful statement; and if it is worth doing, it is worth repeating." Rest in peace, John. God Bless!

Words that describe John Wheatman : kind, humorous, gifted, energetic, authentic, enthusiastic, visionary, balm for the soul. We met John 45 years ago through his class offerings at UC Extension, which began our awareness of his talent and vision. We think of him daily, with the gift of his visionary guidance surrounding us at home.

I have lived for over forty years in the beauty and serenity of John’s aesthetic. He opened my eyes in my twenties when I first walked by his Union Street showroom. That was it! We’ve known such joy from his design!

What a perfect soul! John added life to several of our homes as recently as three years ago. He gave us values and perspectives, personal and other that we had never thought of. He changed our view on "Things" and we will greatly miss him. A pure Legend. Rest In Peace John, until next time.
