The old Anniston National Bank (ANB) family is slowly diminishing its presence with the loss of John Wheeler. He was kind, generous, friendly and a prince among men. My mother worked with him for decades at ANB and always held him in high regard. My prayers to Miss Jane and the kids - they don't make them like John anymore.

Mr. Wheeler's laugh was infectious. The best word I can use to describe him is a Mensch. He was kind, funny, and devoted to his family and friends. Jane, Ray, Greg and Leslie, I am so sorry for your loss. May his memory be for a blessing.

To Jane, Ray, Greg, Leslie and the entire family: please accept my deepest condolences. John was an wonderful gentleman who will be greatly missed. I feel fortunate to have known him. He loved his family, his community and his fellow man. Given his civic-minded nature, it's no wonder he was named Citizen of the Year. Fortunately, he leaves us with many rich memories which we can always treasure. He will be fondly missed by everyone who loved and admired him. You all are in my thoughts and prayers. May God comfort you as only He can.
