John F. Witmer, 78 of Plainfield Township passed away on Friday May 30, 2025 surrounded by family. He was the husband of Patricia Meyers Witmer.


Born in Fountain Hill, PA April 28, 1947, he was the son of the late Francis L. (Irish), and Blanche E. Grove Witmer.


John was a 1965 graduate of Easton Area High School. Upon graduation he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps.



John was a decorated veteran having served with 1st Force Recon Battalion, 1st Marine Division in Vietnam for three years. John attained the rank of staff sergeant; receiving a silver star, a purple heart, and a multitude of other service medals and awards.



After serving his country John became an independent owner operator for many years. He also worked with rigging and relocation of equipment and machinery.  John enjoyed being at home working on his property and having friends and family visit.



He was a devoted husband who loved his family. He will be remembered for his strength, kindness, and respect for everyone.



In addition to his wife Patricia he is survived by two brother James A. Witmer and wife Debra of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Thomas Witmer and wife Connie of Easton, PA, a son Aaron D. Witmer, a daughter Amy L. Troch and husband Jeffrey of Schuylkill Haven, PA, four grandchildren Allison Counterman and husband Alex, Arianna Witmer, Kasie Troch, and Declan Witmer, three great grandchildren Ellie Mae, Marley Rae, and
Beckett James Counterman.


Funeral services with Military Honors will be held, Saturday, June 14, 2025, at 11 AM at the Ruggiero Funeral Home, LLC, 126 E. Pennsylvania Avenue, Pen Argyl.  There will be a visitation beginning at 10 AM until time of services at the funeral home.

My deepest sympathies go out to Pat and the Witmerfamily. John was a good husband and fatherand will be missed. May God wrap his loving arms around you and be forever in your hearts.
I apologize for not attending the services. I recently had a malignant brain tumor removed and have side effects from radiation. I sit back and remember allOur families shared over the years. There were many good ones.

Aaron and family, so sorry to hear about your father´s passing! My thoughts and prayers are with you and the rest of your family at this time! My Daddy has been gone for 39 years and not a day goes by that I don´t miss him but I know he is here with me in my heart and someday we´ll be together again! God is Good! God Bless you all!

John Thank you for your service to our nation. As a fellow Marine I feel compelled to laud your service especially your time in Vietnam. We probably crossed paths while serving there. Semper Fi !!!
