Jon Jenkins Obituary
Mason
Jon Jenkins born May 28, 1945, passed away March 8, 2014 at age 68. Jon was a 1963 graduate of Eastern H.S., LCC in 1966, MSU in 1968, Cooley Law School cum laude in 1976, and President of first Graduating Class of Cooley Law School. Jon was a member of Lutherans for Life and served on the Board of Directors at both State and National levels. He served on the Mason City Council in 1970, and was also Mayor pro tem. Jon won the 4-H state public speaking contest award in 1964. He was honored for more than 30 years of service on the Zoning Board of Appeals.
Jon is preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Ann (Spicka) Jenkins. He is survived by his wife Alix of 43 years, son David (Pamela) Jenkins, brothers James O. Jenkins and Jay (Janice) Jenkins, and sister Judith Jenkins.
The funeral service is Tuesday March 11, 2014 at 1pm at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 2418 N. Aurelius Rd. Holt, MI, with the Rev. Dean Poellet and Rev. Darrell Neves officiating. Visitation is Monday 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Gorsline Runciman Mason Chapel, 621 W. Jefferson, Mason, MI. Committal services will be held Wednesday March 12, at 1pm at the Santa Fe Cemetery, Harrison Twp. Indiana.
Those desiring may make contributions to Lutherans for Life, 1120 S. G. Avenue, Nevada IA, 50201, or St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 2418 N. Aurelius Rd. Holt, MI 48842.

Alix, David, Fran and family,
I was shocked to read about Jon. I don't have to tell you how much his friendship meant to us (especially to Dad). I know their friendship continues now in Heaven. Jon was an example of a lawyer with integrity and a good Christian person in general. I am praying for you all in the days to come that Jesus will hold you close.

I was a classmate of Jon in the first class at Cooley. Over the years I have had several matters with Jon and always was impressed by his professionalism and knowledge. Jon was one of those lawyers that always made our profession a little better. Please accept my condolences, I will miss Jon.
