I had the joy of meeting Jordan for the first time during my residency at Children's Hospital. We were trying to get her home in time for Camp War Eagle :). She was a precious woman who impacted so many lives. I'm praying for peace for all of you during this difficult time.

Dear Jay, Kim and Peyton,
I hurt for you and no words I can say will soothe that hurt. The only solution to dull that pain can come through God's word. Understand that He can identify with your suffering. He, too, lost a child to a senseless death. The difference is that God willingly gave up His Son, who knew no sin, in order that Jordan's death might have purpose. Having coached Jordan since she was 12 and seeing how she modeled courage and confidence in the Cross as her body was decimated by the ravages of disease, she was a hero to me and others. Make no mistake that Jordan's life was not cut short...it was finished. She completed in her 20-1/2 years all that our Lord had for her, and she did it faithfully. Your family has labored well in this battle, and my prayer is that you will continue Jordan's cause of proclaiming Christ even in her absence. We are never more identified with Christ than when we suffer, and you must consider this a badge of honor rather than question His plans for you. Jordan is secure, and her body is restored. The challenge that lies before us is to finish our race in the same manner she did...completely and still gaining speed when we cross the finish line.
Now what does that mean practically? Pastor John Piper has written the following four things:
1.It means that whenever I am called upon to choose between anything in this world and Christ, I choose Christ.
2.It means that I will deal with the things of this world in ways that draw me nearer to Christ so that I gain more of Christ and enjoy more of him by the way I use the world.
3.It means that I will always deal with the things of this world in ways that show that they are not my treasure, but rather show that Christ is my treasure.
4.It means that if I lose any or all the things this world can offer, I will not lose my joy or my treasure or my life, because Christ is all.

I too knew Jordon through the ACA family since she and my daughter, Noelle Mathis, were sweet friends and classmates for several years. Throughout those years, Noelle would keep our family updated on Jordon's progress and she always used the same word to describe Jordon to us.....AMAZING! Jordan was such a bright spot in my life. I am the former "lunch lady" from ACA and I remember when she came back to school after her first round of chemo. She had on her sock hat (her friends wore their sock hats that day too, to honor her) and she had the biggest smile on her face. She was such a delight to everyone who knew her. She touched so many hearts. And now, even in heaven she is still touching hearts. Bless you, her devoted mom and dad and sis. Prayers are going out for you all (and grandparents too).

I have known Jordan through her mom for many many years. Heard stories as she grew up and suffered through that horrible disease. I have said many prayers and updated our Sunday school class many times. Kim, I love you and your family like a sister and you know I feel your pain and hurt. Only know this, God doesn't make mistakes. Throughout all of this, your bright and shining testimony of God's love and light has heartened many. The faith you all have shown has been noticed. YOU have been the light on the hill, the city that cannot be hid. Take solace in the fact that Jordan is in a better place, is most likely getting hugs from Ben, and that God knows you have all been good and faithful servants. Before too many years, you will see her again, and then you will be together for eternity.
