Clovis, California - Loving husband and father is survived by his wife Gloria, 4 sons, sister Carmen Lopez, 6 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.
Jose was born in Gurabo, PR to Jose Boria Cruz and Mercedes Ortiz Pabon. He received his B.S. in Bacteriology/Immunology from the University of California, Berkeley in 1976 and Teaching Credential and Graduate work in Education from California State University, San Jose in 1979. On September 10th, 1966, he married Gloria Valdez and they raised fore sons: Joseph, Michael, Adrian, and Bryan.
Jose's passions included being an educator, mastering new subjects, and helping others in times of need. He was much admired by his family and friends. He was also known for his quick wit, his infectious smile, and his kind and compassionate spirit.
Funeral services will be held at Whitehurst funeral home on September 6th from 1-5 PM and September 7th at Holy Spirit Catholic church at 9:30 AM.
