Jose Luis Mendez born on February 4, 1951, in Hamilton, Texas went to be with the Lord on August 14, 2021 at the age of 70 in San Antonio, Texas. He is preceded in death by his father, Jesse Mendez; brother, Reynaldo Mendez; daughter, Mallory Mendez; sister-in-law, Natalie O’Neall; and brother-in-law, Gilbert Gonzales.


He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Mary Mendez; daughters, Melissa Okane and husband, Kelly, Olivia Mendez, and Natalie Mendez; sons, Christopher Carrion and wife Hiraa Lerma, Samuel Mendez, and Jose Luis Mendez Jr.; brothers, Randy Mendez, and Jesse Mendez; sister, Mary Jane Johnson; grandchildren, Ambre Okane, Felicia Silva, Kelly Okane Jr., Ian Okane, Yssenya Garcia, Maribel Aguirre, Selena Garcia, Annabel Belton, and Emmeline Hines; Numerous great-grandchildren; extended family and friends. His presence in our lives will be dearly missed by those who knew him.


Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM.

Procession will depart Hillcrest on Thursday, August 26, 2021 at 10:00 AM for a graveside service at San Fernando III.
