Joe Barber was one of the first faces I saw at the 5095 Post when I came back to Ct. He has since been a wealth of information, and we became friends almost immediately. He was quick no note that although he was a Navy Corpsman, he preferred being stationed with Marines. Joe was a phenomenal human being, who was an integral part of this Post and many other activities. He was a rare combination of talent, a diehard Patriots fan and a friend to all. I am a richer person for having met him and...

If anyone would have been a fly on the wall at Troop 8's meeting at the VFW this evening they would truly understand just how deep Joe touched everyone who came into contact with him. A circle of young men shared stories, quoted some of Joe's favorite sayings to them and asked questions about Joe. Our thoughts and prayers are with you Kathy and your family. God speed my friend God speed!!!!!

To Kathy and the rest of Joe's family. I am so sorry for your loss. Joe was a wonderful man who will be missed by many. Joe was always there to help anyone in need. His assistance on my son's (Andrew Mandigo) Eagle project was just wonderful! He always had a friendly greeting for all he met and a helping hand for everyone. I am proud to have been able to call him a friend. With love Carol Mandigo

We were so shocked and saddened to learn of Joe's untimely passing. We would like to extend our deepest condolences. Joe was a respected mentor and leader for Troop 8 and he will be sadly missed by all of us who knew and worked with him. Please accept our deepest sympathies at this sorrowful time, and pass on our sentiments to your entire family. Let them know Joe was held in high regard by all who knew him and has left a legacy for the boys and young men of East Hampton's Troop...

After reading this, it is my great misfortune that I did not know Joe but I do know Kathy and I respect and admire her greatly. There is no doubt that she would have chosen such a partner to share her life with. Together they served their communities in so many ways. What an inspiration! My thoughts are with you during this difficult time. I will keep you close at heart.
