While growing up in Evansville, Indiana, my team was the Evansville Braves in the Three I League. I listened to their games announced by Dick Shively and often saw the manager, Bob Coleman, at St, Benedict Church. I could have chosen Johnny Logan, Felix Mantilla, or Del Crandall for a hero, but I liked Bill Reed and my all-time favorite player and idol was the 2nd baseman, Joe Della Monica.
