While growing up in Evansville, Indiana, my team was the Evansville Braves in the Three I League. I listened to their games announced by Dick Shively and often saw the manager, Bob Coleman, at St, Benedict Church. I could have chosen Johnny Logan, Felix Mantilla, or Del Crandall for a hero, but I liked Bill Reed and my all-time favorite player and idol was the 2nd baseman, Joe Della Monica. I am saddened that I never got to tell him how much joy I got when he got a hit at Bosse Field; and I am saddened by your loss, I can only hope that they play ballin that other place and I can hit some grounders to him.
