Mr. Ehrman was an inspiration to all of us. I was one of his students at Lowell (I was there from 1958-1962), Rest in Pease Mr. Ehrman, you are one person who left his stamp on this country. MAJ (Ret) Stephen L. Lent, US Army.

Joe Ehrman was a wonderful teacher and I was one of his students from 1961-(sic)1964. Rest in Peace Joe, you aren't forgotten.

My early life was strongly influenced by Joe. I was a member of Troop 14 during his tenure as Scoutmaster and spent 5 memorable summers at Camp Royaneh. Without Joe's encouragement (and more than a little prodding) I doubt I would have advanced to become an Eagle Scout. Joe also taught me Algebra at Lowell (class of 1965), the only math skill I still use. Besides Troop 14 and Lowell, our lives seemed to follow a similar trajectory including my growing up in Sea Cliff, attending Temple...

I was one of Joe's boys from 1963 to 1966, on the AV Crew he managed for Lowell. I was also on the Stage Crew, managed by Carl Koening. Although I never took a math class from Uncle Joe, or a physics class from Mr. Koening, I spent a lot of time in their offices. They loved students and loved giving their time and life experience towards mentoring them. My fondest memories of Joe Ehrman were the times he'd give me a ride home up Eucalyptus Avenue to Juniperro Serra Blvd. in his white...

My most enduring memories of 1T4, Rah, were our first meeting interview for admission, Troop Room meetings of course, but Camp Royaneh, my initiation into SRH and SS and Joe teaching the troop semaphor flag communication. What a hoot! Most importantly the firm kindness of instruction, guidance and instilling personal integrity, truthfulness and team building have endured throughout my life. Thank you Joe. May you rest in peace knowing your Troop lives on. Press Clewe

I came to know Joe as a Troop 14 parent. What a remarkable man, a man of service, principle, duty and rectitude. I think I speak for all parents of Fourteeners in expressing my gratitude to have had the influence of a role model of such abiding decency in our sons' lives. Joe was the perfect embodiment of his, the Greatest, generation, and that is saying something indeed. Thank you, Joe. OAFM AAFM. God bless you and may you rest in peace.

The troop was, and is, an exceptionally important part of my life and childhood. Joe, you were such an exemplary leader. You taught us young men to be empowered, trustworthy and have a sense of duty. Your soft touch and smile lifted me up and helped form me into who I am today. The troop that you crafted was special. It was not just a Boy Scout troop: it was Joe's creation. I have especially fond memories of our interactions in the troop room, you leading from there, helping us out front....

It is unusual and admirable enough for a person to have been a pillar of one great San Francisco institution. Joe Ehrman was a pillar of two: Troop 14 and Lowell High School. He inspired generations of young San Franciscans to live with integrity, to strive for excellence, and to serve our community and nation. A man of rare rectitude, Joe truly led by example. I was so fortunate to have learned from Joe in my most formative years at both of those institutions: at Troop 14 (1969-73); at...
