Joseph Lawrence Endler Jr.

Joseph Lawrence Endler, Jr. was born on August 19, 1941 in New York, New York, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph L. Endler, Sr. Joseph died on March 29, 2014 at 2:05 a.m. at the age of 72. He fought multiple sclerosis for 45 years, never bending a knee. He left the world on his schedule, peacefully. Joe was the amazing husband to Carol June Wilkins Endler for exactly 45 years to the day. He was the caring and supportive father of Barbara K. Collura (Craig Collura), Joseph L. Endler, III (Amy Walsh-Endler), and Robert M. Endler. He was proud to be the grandfather of Samuel and Adele Collura. He was the loving older brother to James L. Endler (Annette Endler). As a computer system analyst, Joe worked for IBM for 16 years in Poughkepsie, New York, New Orleans, Louisiana, and Raleigh, North Carolina. He also worked for Avondale Shipyards for seven years. He retired after seven years from Lockheed Martin at Michoud in 1991. Joe was active with his children. He worked with his children's swim teams, enduring many hours of swim meets with quiet dignity. He was quite active after his retirement with his son Robert's Boy Scout troop, facilitating many camping trips and helping Robert achieve Eagle Scout. Visitation will be Monday, March 31, 2014 from 5-8 p.m. at Lake Lawn Funeral Home. Services will be Tuesday April 1, 2014 at 11a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations may be made to the National MS Society or on behalf of Robert Endler for Run MS at the Marine Corps Marathon.
