Fay, Dr. Joseph J. LOUDONVILLE Dr. Joseph J. Fay, 82, passed away on December 8, 2019, and, by no fault of his own, left his family and friends devastated. This will not be your ordinary obituary. Joe would have hated a lengthy diatribe filled with monotonous educational achievements,...

Not sure what to say?

Dr. Fay saved my arm when I was 12 years old. I was hit by a small pickup truck and broke one of the bones in my arm right in half. He tried pins but they were doing more damage to my arm. Then he put in a metal plate with screws. I am so thankful to him and have always talked highly of him. He gave me the gift of not loosing my arm and driving guards crazy with the metal detectors. Thank you so very much from deep in my heart . Oh and you could of warned me bout the giant staples .LOL

Dr. Joe was a very good surgeon, and my whole family always went to him : he always knew what to do to have us feel better. He will be greatly missed. We will pray for him, and always keep him in our prayers.

Dear Ellen
What a wonderful send off for a wonderful human.!
My deepest sympathies to you and all his family.!With great sorrow I learnt yesterday (12/17/) of his passing. So many of the young devoted physicians from the late 1960s at the Albany Medical Center have preceded him . May Mother Earth receive them in her Infinite Bosom!

My absolute favorite doctor ever! In 1986 I was 18 and he diagnosed my herniated disc. I did not want to take time from school for surgery. I was going for a perfect attendance award and had it going from 5th grade to 12th. He completely understood and commended me. Dr. Fay kept me comfortable from Jan-June and then as soon as finals were done he got me in for surgery. I was in tremendous pain but he did all he could to make me hold it at bay for 6 months and because of that I won that...

Dear Ellen.
We have such fond memories of a very kind man who treated Bob at Lake George, because, "no sense in coming all the way to Albany." They sat down like old friends, instead of new acquaintances, because Joe was like an old shoe, comfortable and easy to get to know. We'd see you walking the dog, or the dog walking you, and were sorry the season was so short, so we could get to know you better. Wish the world today had more Joes, it would be a kinder place to live in. With...

To Dr. Fay's family, I am truly saddened to learn of his passing!!! He was an amazing human being. You were all lucky to call him Dad, Brother,Husband and Uncle. I have worked with this dear man at my side since I was the ER nurse at Albany Memorial and he was moonlighting. What a fun time. He took wonderful care of all the broken bones with all my children, especially David. You are in my prayers Joe. Have a great time in Heaven, Lord knows you deserve the rest !!! Beth Stewart RN

Bravo Ellen! That tribute paints a beautiful picture of your beloved husband. So very sorry for your loss.May your wonderful memories keep him close to your heart. He was a joy to work with.

I lost my dad on Dec. 2nd. He was 97 and I got him out at least once a week for a gin and tonic in a tall glass!! God forbid the poor server brought it in a short glass. Anyway, I'd like to think our guys are hanging around together. They sound very similar. I wish you and your family a peaceful holiday.

I happened here by chance. Thank you Ellen Fay! What wonderful words, how lucky you both were! Dear God, please let there truly be a heaven. I would love to have the pleasure to meet this man! Bless you and your family.
