Joseph James Ferrari

AGE: 80 • Hillsdale

Joseph James Ferrari, 80, of Hillsdale, NJ peacefully passed away surrounded by his wife and children on August 16, 2011. Born in New York City, NY, he lived in Flushing, NY before moving to Hillsdale in 1966. Mr. Ferrari began his career as a chemist and retired as Group Vice President of the Flavors and Fragrance Division of Fritzsche, Dodge and Olcott, New York, NY. He was a Korean War Navy veteran, serving on the USS Des Moines. Joseph was a graduate of Cardinal Hayes High School, Bronx, NY and received his Bachelors degree from Iona College. Joseph was an avid golfer and a member of the Knollwood Country Club. He was known and loved for his sarcastic wit and his endless dedication to his family.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Nancy (Ann Marie Gross) Ferrari; his son, Joseph J. Ferrari, Jr.; his daughters: Lisa Tomasi and her husband Paul, Nancy Ehnot and her husband Michael and Diane Frain and her husband Teddy; his brother, Charles Ferrari and his wife Lillian; and his 10 grandchildren: Claire, Emily, Christine and Sarah Tomasi; Michael, Lauren and Ryan Ehnot; and Teddy, Genevieve and Anderson Frain.

Funeral from the Becker Funeral Home, www.becker-funeralhome.com, 219 Kinderkamack Rd., Westwood, NJ on Tuesday 9:30am with a 10:30am Funeral Mass at St. John the Baptist Church, Hillsdale, NJ. Private cremation to follow. Visiting hours are Monday 4-8pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dominican Sisters of Blauvelt, 496 Western Highway, Blauvelt, NY 10913 in his memory.

Joe......
I remember the 50's like they were yesterday, we survived and had a dam good time doing it.
If you find a place up there with good Dixieland, Conrad Janis, Henry"Red" Allen et al, and with ice cold Bud, save me a stool at the bar cause I'll be seeing ya. Bobby Mac

Hi Ferrari Family,
We were truly sorry to here about the death of Mr. Ferrari. I was hoping to make it up there for the wake but my son had an accident which prevented me from going. I remember Mr. Ferrari as being a kind and generous person who was always willing to help. He wll be sorely missed, but you can feel peace that he is with God and feels no more pain. Please accept our condolences and we will keep Mr. Ferrari and your family in our prayers. We are truly sorry.
