Rabbi Gitin was my favorite Professor during the most challenging years of my life. I would sit in a small group of students and listen to him jump back and forth from Hebrew to English versions of scripture as we studied the Psalms. His passion was to help his students understand and experience a fuller intimacy with God and the underlying culture and history behind the sacred scriptures. Many of my childhood memories at Temple Emanu-El are of Rabbi Gitin during Friday night services, greeting us as we arrived for religious school and standing the door way listing to the choir practice. Peace be with you, Rabbi.

My uncle was a great man, not merely as a man of achievements, but as a man period. I will miss him.

He was a great man. He married us almost 28 years ago to the day. He was someone our family will never forget. He will be missed but always in our hearts.

A great man and a great teacher. He never forgot a name.
He presided over both our daughters' weddings. He was at all the important events of our family. Beverly and I will miss him. He was one of a kind in our generation.

He will be missed. He was such a good man I still remember him 24 years ago he married us that was the best day ever

So many generations in my family--I loved him so much. Lots of talks at his house, in the synagogue, every life cycle in my family and so very wise. He brought so much to our community. And we all lived for the quotes at our weddings....

He will be missed. His invocations at events were legendary. A gentle man with a kind heart.
