Phil, Kathy, Mary Ellen and Tissie:

I just heard about Joe's (Oh the heck with it - Jody's) passing. A fine man. The world needs more of him, to get things going and keep things going. And Linda and I will always appreciate Grace's arranging for us to be the host family for Lt. Dieter and Karin Panitzki of the Luftwaffe - a real pleasure and honor. All the best to all the Goodells.

The world is a little sadder today. I really enjoyed Mr. Goodell--what a prize he was. He loved his girls..I know that. I had the pleasure of meeting him several times and he was always a joy to be around. My daughter Ella and I are going to light a candle for him today and know that his spirit will always be here. I had the good fortune of knowing Joe Goodell, through my friendship with his daughter Martha. I have found personal inspiration through his drive, curiosity, intellect, and generosity.
