Dear Hammer family. I am very sad to hear of Joes passing, you have my deepest condolences. I moved back to Calif. in 1977 with a newborn daughter , from Germany. Because of an obscure immigration law she could not become a US citizen by birth. I had to bring her to the US and raise her here, she had to speak English as a first language. Joe translated her foreign birth certificate and travel papers so I could start the process of her becoming a naturalized citizen of the US. With Joe´s...

Joe was with his wife Mary were critical to the foundation of Mountain Community Resources. From the first time we met them almost 40 yrs ago they were welcoming and so generous. His love was completely fulfilled by his wife Mary. They were dedicated to their Catholic faith, the people of the San Lorenzo Valley, and anyone in need. We will miss Joe at the 4pm mass at St John´s!
