Dear Bryn, Jane and I are so sorry to read about Joe´s passing. We always delighted in seeing him in the Adirondacks or in Boston. He was someone that I looked up to, perhaps because he was an upperclassmen at Middlesex but mostly because he was a kind and generous person. I feel blessed to have known Joe. He was full of funny stories - how he met Toni when she accidentally impaled his foot with her high heel at a party and he challenged her to dance with him; his terror of being driven around Chattanooga by Mother Cline, who really was a terrible driver, etc. he was always a gentleman and maintained his composure, even while contemplating his young life ending by Mother Cline driving over the sidewalk and nearly into a large statue.
